Prior to 1996, Chadds Ford Township was known as Birmingham Township, Delaware County. The renaming helped distinguish the area from neighboring Birmingham Township in Chester County. Our bucolic township measures 8.7 square miles with a population of approximately 3,800 residents.
Our township is governed by an elected body of three Supervisors and a township manager under the rules of the PA 2nd Class Township Code. The township has a group of working committees that are focused on making suggestions and recommendations on the natural treasures within our township such as our open space, safety, historical architecture, and commercial buildings as well as helping preserve our natural environment.

The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association supports the residents of Chadds Ford Township to build a stronger community.
Preserving history for over 50 years, the Chadds Ford Historical Society hosts the Great Pumpkin Carve and the Historic Chadds Ford Days annually as well as offering summer camps and numerous educational programs for children and adults.
Presents educational programs, exhibits, tours, events and publications that broaden public understanding and appreciation of the significance of the Battle of Brandywine within the larger social, political, economic, technological and military context of the American Revolution period.
